What is Blogger’s World?

Blogger’s World is a forum made by bloggers for bloggers. It started back in August 2015 after a Blogging 101 course where those who “graduated” from it wanted to have a place to keep in touch. It has since expanded to incorporate bloggers from across the globe. For more information, check out our about page.

Why should I join Blogger’s World?

Blogger’s World offers you a supportive community full of wonderful bloggers who wish to interact. We have awards, weekly features, and allow members to link to posts on their own blogs for feedback. If you would like to meet other bloggers and find a place that can help you become a better blogger through feedback, Blogger’s World is the place for you.

While you will be able to comment on existing posts without joining, you will NOT be able to make your own posts to get feedback without joining us.

How do I get access? How do I write posts?

Remember, only members who have been sent an invite and accepted it are allowed to post their own posts here. Nonmembers are only allowed to comment. If you are not a member yet, please request to join by leaving a comment on any post with tags for our admins (@sandeept252 and @dancinglightofgrace) while logged into WordPress.com

If you are a member, you can start your new post right away by typing in the box at the top labelled “Hi Name.”

If you want to write your post using the more traditional post editors you are familiar with, you can find the default here and the WP Admin one here.

What should I include in my posts?

You should try to include any tags that are relevant to your posts. You should also always include a link to your blog or to the post in question. This makes it easier to visit your blog.

Please also include information about the post or what you’re looking for instead of just leaving a link to your blog. Leaving only a link will be considered spam and will be deleted.

How can I save the URL or find my way back here?

There are several options.

Option 3: You can also FOLLOW Blogger’s World using your WordPress.com login and have all the posts show up in your reader tab.

How do I tag someone? When and why should I do that?

There are two types of tags on this forum in use. One is tagging an individual. The other is tagging a topic.

Tagging an individual is very similar to how it is done with Facebook and Twitter. Doing so sends a notification to that user’s notification bar in WordPress.com so that they are more likely to notice it.

Tagging an individual is therefore useful when you want to flag something for them to look at. Please note that replies to that individual will automatically go to their notification bar. Therefore, it is unnecessary to tag them if responding to their comment.

To tag them, type “@” followed by their WordPress.com username. You can find their username by clicking on their author name in the right sidebar and typing the words after author. For instance:

Clicking my name would lead you to:

https://blogging101alumni.wordpress.com/author/Sandeept252 or dancinglightofgrace/

You would write @sandeept252 or @dancinglightofgrace to tag us.

You will notice that once you start typing @ and some letters, you will get usernames that match the first letters to show up. This feature does not work on the mobile app. A preview of it is below.

How do I let an admin know I need help?

Tagging an admin is the best way to get their attention. It sends a notification to their notification bar with a link to your post. Adding the tag #help is also helpful. For more information on adding a topic tag, click here.

Our admin tags are: @dancinglightofgrace and @sandeept252

How do I label my posts with relevant tags?

There are two types of tags on this forum in use. One is tagging an individual. The other is tagging a topic. This question will answer tagging a topic.

You may use tags on your own blog. You may even use categories.

The current theme that we use processes these differently. They appear as hashtags much like they do in Twitter. You can easily add them to the quick editor on our home page (the white box at the top of the screen that says “Hello name!“) For instance, if you wanted to tag the post with feedback because you wanted feedback on something, you would type “#feedback”.

While, #feedback, #help, #idea, #weekly, and all the subcategories of weekly features are our most popular tags, you may add anything you want that seems relevant to your post. Think of tags as the index at the back of a book. It helps you find concepts, ideas, and things located in a book. How would you best label your post? Please do not create new tags for ones that are already existing. Also, take care to put the tag correctly. Half words or incorrect spellings would make new, duplicate tags.

How do I make a post sticky? When should I make it sticky?

Making a post sticky is used for weekly and guest features only. If you are posting something that is just for general feedback or help, please do NOT sticky your post. Weekly and Guest features are only stickied so that they can be seen more easily since they are otherwise lost in the group.

If you are using the white box located at the top of this screen or your post already appears on Blogger’s World, you can make a post sticky by clicking on the 3 dots at the top right corner of your post. If the dots do not appear, wait a few minutes or refresh the screen and wait for it to finish loading.

Picture of menu

Click the three dots to open the menu. Then select “Stick to front page”

If you are using the other editors for WordPress, you can sticky it by following these instructions.

What is a blogcast?

A blogcast is a blogging podcast or audio recording made by any member of the forum with a minimum length of about 5 minutes and a maximum of 15 minutes. You are free to talk about any subject of your selection. They are published weekly every Saturday. If you wish to contribute to the blogcast, you are required to nominate yourself in advance by approaching admins.

To view our past blogcasts, please check out our archive.

What is a guest feature? Can I do guest features?

Guest features are our newest feature. These differ from our weekly features because they are a one time post rather than a recurring theme each week.

Blogger’s World hosts guest posts of various categories which are stand alone and written by members of the forum. Volunteers for the Guest Features are encouraged to write on any subject. You are free to share anything like an article, a piece of fiction, a poem, video or audio of your interest provided you feel it will also interest readers on this blog. You can showcase your skills and there is no commitment to do it regularly.

Only one weekly post is featured every day as a post sticky to the homepage. To get an idea about guest posts, take a look at the archives. If you wish to volunteer for a guest post on this forum please contact admins.
