New Year celebrations at Blogger’s World

New Year celebrations bring with them new hopes and new beginnings. Out with the old, in with the new they say. Ringing in of the new years is accompanied with either lots of wild partying, or a quiet night at home with family and friends. Either way, it is a big event the world over.

Globetrotter’s Corner – Travel Guide on Canada

Canada is the world’s second-largest country by total area, covering an area of 9.98 million square kilometres. The name of the country is said to be coming from the St. Lawrence Iroquoian word kanata, meaning “village” or “settlement”.  Canada’s border with USA makes it the world’s largest international land border, and at 202,080 kms, it also had the largest coastline in the world.

Canada has implemented an entry requirement called an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA). Starting March 15, 2016, travellers who do not normally need a visa will need to get an eTA before flying to or transiting through Canada.  This entry requirement applies to foreign nationals who are visa-exempt and who travel to Canada by air. Exceptions include U.S. citizens and travellers with a valid visa. Those who do not need an eTA will be required to obtain a Temporary Resident Visa to enter the country. Entry requirements have not changed for those travelling by land or sea.

Canada is divided into distinct regions – Atlantic Provinces, Quebec, Ontario, Prairies, British Columbia and the North (Northwest & Nunavut)

traveller's talesFeatured Country of the Week / Travel Guide

This would have even more involvement from you our readers. This feature would have a voting poll. Choose any one country from the list, to indicate which country you would like featured. We shall try to cover it as the next destination you should visit. Voting Polls would be opened immediately after every Travel Guide post. Every alternate week, a new country would be announced as the subject of next week’s travel guide. The selected country for the next week would be announced in the same post as Photo Delight – where the featured photograph of the week would be revealed.

Once the selected country is announced, you are free to send in your contributions to Marica or me, via email or via our contact page. We shall try to cover it from a traveller’s point of view, so topics of focus would be things like places to see, best time to travel etc.  **

** For this feature, the country may not be the one that we have visited ourselves, so the contents are not endorsed as a recommendation by the author or the forum. Also, we may inadvertently leave out some attraction or tourist spot. Please do excuse us and share the details in a comment section for that particular country’s Travel Guide post.

Please Note – We are trying this out for the first time, and there are many kinks to be ironed out. It is not possible to anticipate all of them beforehand, hence, we shall improve and work upon it as we go along. As of now, the above has been mutually decided and agreed upon. If you have any suggestions or feedback, please head to the comments section of this post. Your opinions are welcomed and valued.

Our first photo post – Photo Delight – would be up on Sunday, November 29th, 2015.  Deadline for submissions and Voting would be every Saturday, 11:00 p.m. GMT(Please see schedule below for better clarity)
