Volunteers Needed For Etymology Weekly!

Dear friends,

We need volunteers who could do etymology posts. You can opt for doing it once a month or more as your time and inclination allows you to do. In this post you are supposed to take an interesting word and discuss its origin, usage and variants. Please let me know if you are interested. 🙂

About Blogging 101 Etiquettes!

Dear friends,

I wanted to do this brief note too but maybe a day or two later so it remains in our minds but as someone has raised this point I should write about it. 🙂

First off, everyone here(I believe) has better manners and etiquettes than I do( was it ‘me’ here or ‘I do?’). I am not trying to be patronizing. You all know what I am going to say. And these are the basics 🙂

Blogging 101 commons is a space dedicated for giving feedback. Please don’t do self-promotion there. Promoting Blogger’s World also comes under self-promotion. Also: please don’t chat too much–stay on topic and stay relevant. Even if you see familiar faces, switch gears from informal to formal. 🙂

Truth be told: I have seen too many people promoting too many links on commons and yet they were not rebuked but I have been rebuked many times in many courses even when I was trying to help. Am I trying to say they were unfair to me? No, I am saying that my presence is recognized very soon since I spend a lot of time there–therefore anything slightly off-the-track by me is subject to warning and chiding.

Since so many of us will join together and interact there as well: our concord and fraternity will be obvious to everyone. Since we are not working for a sinister purpose, please let not anyone say anything to us which hurts 🙂

If instead of being able to help others we are reprimanded and it turns bitter: the whole purpose is defeated. 🙂

If some people over there suggest about creating a new group like commons: let them do it. We shall be more than happy to support such a group. Just suggesting name of this group as an idea shouldn’t be a problem normally(especially towards the end of the course when people do need a place like commons, I have done that before.) It’s just a blog and I don’t see how it’s any different to drop a link for it from dropping a link to your personal blogs.

Will we have fun despite so much heavy thinking?

Yes definitely. We have plenty to talk about even when we are formal. Seeing friends always cheers us up and helping is always good provided you don’t need anything in return. 🙂

Please let me know if anyone has any suggestions or ideas regarding this 🙂

Blogging 101 Is Around The Corner!

Dear friends,

Have you registered for Blogging 101 course yet? Course begins on January 4th so registration is soon going to close!

You can register here

I feel so many of us are thankful for Blogging University and 101 because it not only gave us skills but also brought us together as a cohesive group which is now Blogger’s World. 🙂

My intention behind joining Blogging 101 is apparent: I want to help new bloggers. 🙂
Getting help as a new blogger for the first time when I joined Blogging 101 in August was a feeling I can’t forget. It changed my blogging experience for better forever. 🙂 I want to pay back a little.

I feel if I make some friends we might keep interacting in blogosphere or they might join Blogger’s World too but that is not my prime goal. We blog about different things and resonate at different frequencies so we might not keep seeing each other afterwards but in the first few days if new bloggers get some feedback(any feedback) and some help(about basic technicalities) it will motivate them to do better. In about 3 weeks you can have a wonderful impact on growth of many bloggers, especially if many of us come together 🙂 Volunteers!

The August batch had many active members and our forum was created as an alumni forum first. Even November batch has given us some wonderful friends. In November session I observed that interacting with almost all bloggers used to take only 2-3 hours of my time per day. There were only a few very active members. 🙂

I feel if some of us friends join with a view to primarily help other bloggers and make new friends we will make this course a great place. Many new bloggers will get a feeling which will last for many months and build a foundation which will give their blogs a long life 🙂

What is in it for you? I feel peace and contentment, first and foremost. 🙂

Getting new friends and learning new things is added advantage but nothing matches the feeling of helping others without expecting anything in return. 🙂

Many members have registered. I guess, Rashmi, Piyusha, Vikram, Marica, Lou and Arpita are also joining. It is going to be a lot of fun!

If every one of us gives just 30 minutes to 1 hour everyday { I will try to give more if possible} this session will become one of the best. 🙂

I hope you will register and help new bloggers 🙂

Cracked Rear Viewer Turns 6 Months Old!

Since I’m new here at “Blogger’s World!”, I thought I’d introduce my site via today’s 6 month anniversary post. Your comments and suggestions are more than welcome!

anniv1

It seems like just yesterday little CRV was born, but it was actually June 26, 2015! On that date I debuted my first post, a look at the early Peter Lorre noir The Face Behind the Mask. I was so green at the time I didn’t even know how to add pictures! Cracked Rear Viewer has come a long way since then, with a loyal following that seems to grow week by week. There’s now 154 posts (including this one) to choose from, covering everything from horror and science fiction to Western and gangster dramas to comedy classics. Though my main focus is films from the 1930’s to the 1970’s, I’ve occasionally stepped out of that box to look at movies from other eras. I’ve added ongoing series like CLEANING OUT THE DVR, THAT’S BLAXPLOITATION!, PRE-CODE CONFIDENTIAL, and the latest, ROCKIN’ N THE FILM WORLD, as well as NEWS & NOTES…
