Agreeing with your view that “public service” is the service of oneself. Got reminded of a statement on governance I read recently: “Governance is the process by which we serve ourselves.” Despite the selfishness, I think, there is a vision for greater good or maybe survival in the long-term. After all, empathy and service has helped humans carry on even in the hardest of times.

  You have found positive in a critique. Once I learn that sovereign rule of Self is possible only when we learn discipline, I feel comfortable with that.
