Dear Friends

Hi guys,
I am really sorry if I am not visible lately here as I have been busy and I am trying to catch up with what happened here. It seems there’s a lot of developments recently and it was great to know that Blogger’s World is growing and I hope and pray that despite some issues we will be able to continue to being a great and happy community with the goal of helping each other. This community had been a tremendous help to me as a blogger and I appreciate all of you especially those who worked hard for this forum to be a haven for bloggers. I say my thanks to @thinkerv0 for doing his part as an admin, being active and helpful and I agree that he was one of the backbone of this community. I hope that him being asked to step down as admin will not have any negative impact and I wish him well and that he will continue to be supportive and be a positive example to us all.
In a different note, I would like to share that I had a great experience on my free online university courses which thankfully I am able to finish (some turned to auditing which means they can see the materials but since they will not be able to submit assignments they will not be able to get statement of accomplishments/certificates). The free lessons and videos there were great, having a certificate was just added bonus for me (it was not a degree/credit kind of course, the founder just want to use that to create positive impact through providing free courses). There was a forum also there for classmates and I have been active there and I was asked there to assist other students with their queries much like this community (there was no fee of course, it was volunteer work just like the admins and all of us here have been doing) and I was glad to do that as way of giving back for the free online courses. I found new friends there, awesome individuals like you whose goals are to be part of positive change.
The focus/title of the courses: global social entrepreneurship, essentials of non-profit, leadership, social impact, organizational capacity, fundraising and financial modeling. It was more of how we can learn strategies to help communities and projects to have greater impact (mostly for non-profit organizations but also for social entrepreneurship), lasting change and sustainability. It opened new ideas for me, that in our small way we can be involved in things that are worthwhile just like blogging, that we can pay it forward. The courses are finished and I will share with you the link once I found out if they will be offered again.
Still, I enrolled in different courses (from another program) this year to improve my skills and learn new ideas that hopefully I can apply to my career and to help others so I might still be busy but I definitely will not leave the community and blogging as I consider this already a part of my life.

  Yes, they are interesting and it was a great experience. Please check them out, you can enroll in the courses but if you can’t do them you can turn to auditing instead (Acumen courses, my classmates said who already took them were in different format than those 7 courses we took in Philanthropy University-they like Philanthropy courses more) but of course you will benefit if you will also be active there, usually it is advisable to be in a team although you can create a one-man-team. I can say that since there were different cultures, backgrounds and personalities in any community this can lead to some form of conflict (even in teams there), hence, there were issues there also which didn’t bother me because my goal is to learn and to help. I also keep in mind that kindness, love, understanding, tolerance, humility and positive attitude will always bring harmony and peace. 🙂

      You are very much welcome @piyushavir I must admit, the courses, especially if the deadline to submit assignments were a bit stressful but I guess I loved being a student lol 😛 (The professors/instructors were not usually active there as most of them are also busy, they just gave their time to provide course materials although sometimes they check the assignments and comment and share their thoughts on the discussion forum but there were teaching assistants there but in any community/courses participation of students/members will add better experience), most of the students were professionals and the digital certificates you will get can be downloaded and you can link them to your LinkedIn profile if you have one or share them via FB.

        Yes, but since you are in a team, there are members who are not active and there are who worked hard. (I guess it resulted to issues since even those not active will be able to receive the certificates even if they didn’t participate although you can remove yourself from your team and move to another team). I tried to be active in all of the courses but two of the courses, I admit I am not able to fully share since the topics were a bit challenging for me (Fundraising and Financial Modeling) as I have no experience on non-profit and I am not involved in any organization/company. I try to assist my team members the best way I can though so I have good relationship with them, I even found friends that are not part of any team I was into (usually they were the active ones and they comment and assist others queries). There was a team I decided to create in one of the courses, many joined but they did not participate although I specifically asked that I hope those who will join will be able to collaborate. I decided not to mind that since I believed I benefited and the course was free and if they are just there for the certificates then so be it. Of course, it would be great if they participated but I just thought that maybe they have internet issues, busy with work and have other reasons why they were not able to be active or participate. 🙂

        could be… or maybe they found it too technical or not worth their time, for whatever reasons. you’re right in not taking it personally. you couldn’t have predicted any of it.

        Yes, I did enjoyed it and the materials were easy to understand but I guess you are right some might find them hard to understand. I really learned a lot there, it was great to know that such free courses exist. 🙂
